Milestone Sessions

What to Expect:

• Make sure to plan birthday sessions 3-4 weeks before the actual birthday if you plan to print or post on their birthday. This will allow for plenty of time to get the photos back!

• Prior to the session it is helpful to practice by giving your baby a cupcake. This will introduce them to sugar/icing. Some babies love sugar and some don’t, so it is helpful to practice ahead of time.

• Milestone photos don’t have to be cake- If your child prefers something else, bring it along! Some examples of popular other foods are pasta, watermelon, popsicles or cupcakes.

• Think about nap time when scheduling. If your baby is happier around certain times of the day, schedule around that time. A rested baby is a happy baby!

• White or “naked” cakes are strongly recommended. You can pre-order small cakes from stores like Wegmans, Acme or Giant for around $10.

  • Darker colored cakes will stain the baby and props. Light colors are fine but please do not bring dark red, black, or dark blue as they will leave hard stains.

• Bring a drink and a preferred snack for the baby. Sometimes babies are shocked by the taste of icing and having a snack they like gets them into the cake. The drink is for when their mouths get dry.

• Things will get messy! Make sure to bring a change of clothes and have them wear things that you don’t mind food getting on. While I am taking photos, I will ask you to place your baby, so don’t wear any clothes you don’t want stained.

• OTHER HELPFUL ITEMS TO BRING: Wipes, a towel, your baby’s favorite toy

• There is a fully functioning bathroom in the studio, so feel free to bathe your baby here after the shoot. I do have baby soap and towels but if your baby is sensitive, please bring your own.

  Please only bring a maximum of two adults into the studio
